About Special Issues
Neoplasia Research acknowledges that continual advancement in the field of oncology should reach the readers in a well-organized manner, be it a newly emerging area of the field, a deeper insight into the already acknowledged important subfields, or an explanatory discussion of some cross-discipline.
To implement this vision, Neoplasia Research publishes Special Issues, which can be described as collections of articles that illuminate a common and specific research area of oncology or its related disciplines. Such issues enable the authors to share research focused on a joint topic/theme, and readers can easily access updated knowledge on a targeted theme.
Special issues are published under the guest editorship of “Guest Editors” who submit their brief proposal of the special issue to the journals. These proposals are reviewed by the journal's permanent Editorial Board Members for final approval and announcement on the journal’s website. After the visibility of the special issue title on the website of a journal, the journal’s article submission process starts receiving articles on the topic of the issue. Guest Editor(s) name(s) and affiliation; and submission deadline for articles are posted along with the title of the special issue.
Both the Guest editors and Neoplasia Research are expected to participate in the promotion of Special Issues and mayactively invite global scholars and researchers of the oncology field to gather articles on the specific topic. This helps in gaining global attention on a significant theme/query of the field. For inviting potential authors, the Guest Editor(s) prepare the Call for Papers, briefly describing the background and theme of their Special Issue. Neoplasia Research will be available for assistance required in this regard.
Notably, all articles submitted for publication in a special issue are subject to a double-blind peer review process as are the articles submitted for regular issues of the journal.
Guest Editor(s) or editorial staff of the journals send emails containing Calls for papers to scholars/researchers working in the cancer field. All authors and readers are also notified about a special issue open for submissions through the Publisher/journal’s website notifies all about an open special issue however, the promotion of special issues among colleagues and researchers by the Guest Editors is highly encouraged as this increases the chances for successful publication of their Special Issue.
Dealing Articles Submitted for Special Issues:
As with regular editors, Guest Editors are responsible for conducting the initial review of articles submitted for their special issue. Leveraging their subject-matter expertise, Guest Editors assess the submissions to determine their relevance and alignment with the special issue’s theme. Articles deemed unsuitable are communicated to the editorial staff for further handling.
To ensure a rigorous and unbiased review process, Guest Editors identify and invite qualified experts in the field to conduct double-blind peer reviews of the articles. Once reviewers’ reports are received, Guest Editors are responsible for making the final decision on whether to accept, revise, or reject each article for inclusion in the special issue.
In cases where Guest Editor(s) wish to submit their own articles for their special issue, they and their team will be kept completely uninformed about the handling and review process of their article after its submission to the journal. Thishelps us to comply with our double-blind review policy as well as prevent any conflict of interest. The handling of their articles will be the sole responsibility of permanent Editorial Board Members, and an internal expert of the field or an external reviewer may be requested and assigned for peer review.
The editorial staff of the journal will assist the Guest Editor in administrative tasks of the special issue. This may include the responsibilities of making contact with reviewers, sending reminder emails to someone involved, reporting to authors about their articles’ progress, and technical assistance for the publication of accepted articles.
Once the revised copy of the Manuscripts is finally accepted and approved by the Guest Editors/reviewers, followed by approval of the galley proof by the authors, the manuscripts are published instantly in the special issue. Such articles appear on the relevant Special Issue page of the journal’s website. The databases where the journal is indexed will include these articles as well.
From the initial announcement of the special issue, a period of six months is usually chosen for the submission deadline. Although articles, already in the review process may appear in a special issue after the passing of this deadline, no new submission is accepted for the special issue.
Successful publication of special issue is our prime target nevertheless, an unanticipated situation resulting in the cancellation of the issue cannot be excluded. Under these situations all published and, under-publication-process articles will be transferred to the current regular issue of the journal with an immediate notification to the authors.
Standard Article Processing Charge (APC) applies to the articles accepted for publication in a Special Issue. For more information, please visit https://neoplasiaresearch.com/pms/index.php/JCRU/apc.
